Checking Your Car Brakes
There is no arguing that car brakes are an essential automobile component. Brakes are designed to slow down your vehicle. A minor problem with the brake system can make a vehicle
unsafe to drive. So it's highly important to check your brakes performance on a regular basis, particularly if your car has been
parked for a long time. For your safety, it is recommended to have your car inspected at least once
a year. One way to check your brakes properly is to have it inspected by a mechanic.
Checking your car brakes is a just simple process of visual inspection. Start by looking at the brake hose. A cracked brake hose with leaks, kinks or
blockages and rusty brake line can cause brakes to fail unexpectedly. Check pads and shoes for wear. Replace them as necessary. A squeaking sound indicates that the pads are wearing thin.
Inspect your brake warning lights too. If the brake pedal lacks firmness or goes almost to the floor before engaging,
there is something wrong with your brakes. Shaking or vibration in the pedal or steering wheel may
indicate that rotors are in need of resurfacing. You also need to check your brake fluids. Bear in mind that the fluid
level in the brake fluid container should not be lower than minimum level mark. Check if there are leaks on the brake fluid container.
Lastly, test your brakes before hitting the road. This is still the easiest way to notice if there's a mechanical issue in your brakes.
